Beautiful album, limited press from the Jazz Aggression label, Finland.
As soon as I heard the digital pressing in the media kit, the immediate impression was it's a winner.
Tender, warm, articulate, and a genuine nod to the musicians who penned the original standards. Recorded in the UK with a mix of young and mature players, the level of musicianship is exceptional.

The album was recorded on the hillside above Keighley, West Yorkshire, at the studio of British pianist Matthew Bourne. Mike Kanan has been a staple of the New York jazz scene for over 30 years and is known for his elegant swing and deep knowledge of the music. Having played the Village Vanguard, Carnegie Hall, and Smalls Jazz Club, here he joins an assortment of Leeds-based musicians in a setting very distant from the urban environment of Manhattan, New York.
